- Google is reportedly working on new search filters for Google Photos.
- The app is expected to add four new filters to improve image search.
Google is reportedly preparing to add new search filters in its Photos app to improve image search. Currently, Google Photos allows you to refine your search for a particular picture based on location, people, and things. According to reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong, you could soon be able to combine these existing search attributes with new filters to increase your chance of finding the photo you’re looking for.

We can see four new Google Photos search filters in the screenshot shared by Wong. These include selfies, videos, archived photos, and motion photos clicked with specific people or things.
You should also be able to club these new search filters with the existing place filter to find photos taken at a specific location. The new filters will appear just below the search bar, and you should also see the results directly underneath.
Google hasn’t announced the arrival of these new search tools in Photos, but the company could do so soon since they look nearly ready to roll out. It could also add some more filters to the list if and when they go live.
